Place Value and Saying Numbers

Place value is a Sytem that groups number based on their size.

The positon of a digit determins its value. When we say numbers we group them within the same house. For example 15709 has fifteen thousands, seven hundreds and nine ones.

Understanding our base 10 place value system allows us to pronaice big numbers propely It also allows us to inentify numbers before and after.

The highway rat

visualisation is a strategy that is about making a picture in your head so you know what happend in the story

The story is about a rat he stole food of travlers that were in the highway .

One day he saw a duck but the did not have nothing he said that he would eat her but she said that she had a sister and she had lot of candies.

When  the rat went in the cave the rat got lost then he started working in a cake shop dusting the floor of the cake shop.

My partner has more detail then me because his rat has got a sword and my rat dose not. This shows that we all see things differently.

AFL practice 2

Today we did AFL with our coach.

Ms Becs showed us agian how to pass our ball to other people so we can remember how to pass.

Then Ms Becs also reminded us how to kick the ball.

Then we played a game called mark catching. In that game there were two Islands. One Island had to kick the ball to the second Island. The second Island had to catch the rugby ball to get a point. Then the roles reversed and the activity was repeated.

It was so much fun because when I was playing my shoe flew in the air. I learnt how to catch the ball properly.

Mihi Whakatau

Mihi Whakatau is Maori term for a formal greeting.

Mihi Whakatau is a traditionally used for welcoming, introductions and openings. It is undertaken by the tangata whenua (local inhabitants).

The Mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspects to the place. The Maunga (mountain), Awa (river), and Iwi (tribe) are generally used.

Introducing Ingoa (name), Oku tipuna (ancesored place) and where you live is important for the audience to understand the position of the speaker.

Manuhiri is the term used to describe or group the visitors that are being welcomed.

Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of the visit will ensure long lasting relationships and connections.

Print Design rules

I learnt about Print Design rules

First Mr. Wong taught us about the main aspects of the Print Design rules, colour, layout, text and composition.

Next I figured out which posters were good and which were bad with my patner.

Last I reorganised a poster to make it look good .

I ejoyed this task because I did not know anything about Print Design rules.

Handwriting

I completed my task called handwriting.

First I wacthed a a video to know how I had to write.

Next I wrote my letter A to Z .

At last I wrote number to 1 to 10 and I wrote symbols.

I enjoyed the task but it was a little tricky and it was fun.

AFL skill

On the field we learned the skills of Aussie Rules with Jack.

Jack told us how to pass our ball to other people we had to put the ball in our hand and then hit it with our other hand to get more power we had to swing it and the hit it.

Then we got into pairs and stared practicing and my patner was Wyatt.

Next we learnt how to kick the ball. We had to hold the ball making an M with our hands. We had to make sure the laces were away from faces. Lastly we needed to make sure the X's were at the top and bottom. We then drop the ball and kick towards our partner.

We played a game in which we have to hit our Coach or the Teacher.

It was so fun I was a little tried and it was fun because I learnt how kick a Rugby ball.

Ls1 learing 3 Ps

Ls1  learnt about the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi and how they apply to our learning .

First Mr Ogilvie introduced  the 3ps in the Treaty of Waitangi they are protection,Partnership,Participation.

In groups we wrote statements about the 3 ps are all connected.

After that we used our groups ideas and thought about how they connected to me.

I chose thease 3 statements because they will help me be successfulwith my learning in lS1.

I will always be cybersmart.

Optical Illusion| Rabit & Duck

Today, for my second distance learning task in my art lesson I got challenged to make an optical illusion.

First, I searched on google, so I can find what I can draw and it is little confusing.

Then, I found a picture of a rabit and duck mixed, and I stared to draw the picture.

Later, when I was done I showed the difference between the illusions and added it to my blog.

Something I found interesting was that optical illusions simply trick our brains into things that are not real. Did you know that the Greeks used optical illusions in their architecture and art.

I loved to complete this task because I came to know more about Optical Illusions.

Cultural Art | Lotus

Today, for my first distance learning task in my art lesson I got challenged to make a cultural art.

First I went outside to collect different types of flowers and leaves.

Then,  I came back and decided to make the national flower of India.

After, I searched on google to find out what a lotus looks like, then I started to arrange the leaves and petals for the lotus. Finally I clicked a picture of the art that I made.

Something I found interesting was that a lotus can only grow in dirty water. Did you know that a lotus is a symbol of beauty, grace and  purity.

I loved to complete this task because I came to know more about my culture.
